Well what was that all about?

Updated: Feb 22

You walk with God and he leads you places.

But sometimes you wonder how you got into a situation and it feels like you have taken a wrong turn somewhere.

Not a deliberate diversion, but you find yourself in a place of "what the..?"

A friend said to me that any diversion with God is a chance to see things you wouldnt otherwise see, meet people you wouldnt otherwise meet.

I am trying to embrace that when I am going through that 'pinball' phase in my walk.

Even when I am unaware of any flow of Holy Spirit, as God's light and salt in the world, I am going to impact my surroundings. I need to remember that. And maybe He needs me to be somewhere at the right time for somebody whether I am cognisent of it or not.

"I'm singing this one for the sparks

Here's one for the friction makers

We are the bleeding hearts" [Bullet Soul, Switchfoot, 2009]

Sometimes its going to hurt, finding ourselves in the unfamilar. Disruptive, clunky, but take courage - that with God you are winning even when you are losing. You are a son, His inheritance, and you are on mission because its who you are. You are mission! How about that for orientation!

Are you getting kickback from this place you find yourself in? Things not going too well, low level or intense persecution?

You are mission, your values make you abrasive, dangerous and disruptive in this world. A friction maker and a groundbreaker. Until you get back home, it is the way of things.

Sometimes its going to hurt you - being a pickaxe in the hands of your God. It will change you and hone you though, and its a priviledge.

You are breaking up ground for the coming streams and rivers to flow. Irrigation channels for sowing and harvest in the most inhospitable of places. Places he has led you to.

Get used to it. He stood before his accusers and didn't try to justify himself and yet in His silence He was cracking the very foundations of evil in the world. There were earthquakes!! He was the entry point for the River of God in the earth.

Jesus' life, death and ressurection broke the ground and set this thing in motion and now you get to follow Him - The Way.
